A Lion cub for the Lion Brigade.

A function to handing over of a lion cub for the Lion Brigade of the Sri Lanka was held recently at the National Zoological Gardens under the Patronage of Deputy Minister of Sustainable Development and Wildlife Hon. Sumeda G. Jayasena. At this meeting Deputy Minister appreciated the contribution made by the Lion Regiment at the war against terrorism.

This 4 month old lion cub was born at the Hambantota Safari Park. His mother was brought there from Germany while its farther was lion called Zula brought from a Zoological garden in China.

Although custodianship of this Lion cub was temporary handed over to the Lion Regiment, it’s feeding and healthcare will be undertaken by the Department of Zoological Gardens. However, a costs will be beared by the Lion Regiment of the Sri Lanka Army.

Several officials, including Mrs.Dhammika Malsingha, Director General of the Department of National Zoological Gardens, Assistant Director, Ms.Anoma Priyadarshani, Officers From the Sri Lanka Lion Regiment and officers of the National Zoological Gardens were attended this function.
