Sri Lanka Voluntary National Review of Sustainable Development Goals

The Government of Sri Lanka will be presenting its first Voluntary National Review (VNR) at the July 2018 High Level Political Forum (HLPF) under the theme “Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies”. The Sri Lanka VNR aims at assessing the progress of national policies and systems, and documenting the progress of the country towards implementing and achieving the SDGs.

The SDGs present an overarching and comprehensive framework that aims to provide a shared narrative of sustainable development, emphasizing the principle of leaving no one behind. As such, the Sri Lanka VNR process is envisaged as a collaborative and inclusive endeavour, leading to sustained multi-stakeholder engagement and dialogue. As a part of the Sri Lanka VNR process, the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Wildlife will be organizing a series multi-stakeholder consultative workshops at the national and the subnational levels.

Two Multi-stakeholder consultative workshops will be held in Colombo on the 14th and 16th of March 2018 that will bring together stakeholders from the government, private sector, academia, and civil society organizations to a single platform to discuss the status of SDG implementation in the country as well as the status of selected SDGs including those related to the theme of the 2018 HLPF.

Limited number of participants will be included in workshops through an open call.
