Around 500,000 of local and foreign tourist vist annually to the Yala National Park, which is famous as a place where leopards can be observed easily. Around 1500 tourists visit to the Yala National Park daily while they have to wait in the park office for a considerable time to obtain tickets to enter in to the park during the visiting hours. Department has taken measures to introduce an e-ticket in order to prevent inconvenience caused to the visitors. Accordingly, any tourist can visit the Department website www.dwc.lk and buy an e-ticket. Thereby, visitors can enter to the park easily without waiting their time unnecessarily.
Inaugaration of e-ticket for the Yala National Park was taken place at the Ministry Auditorium on 5th of February under the patronage of Hon. Minister of Environment and Wildlife Resources, Mr. S.M. Chandrasena. Similarly, Department of Wildlife Conservation initiative issuing e-ticket s for the Wilpattu National Park last year and measures would be taken by the Department of Wildlife Conservation to introduce e-tickets for of other parks as well.
According to the Director General of the Department of Wildlife Conservation, Mr. M.G.C. Suriyabandara, with this issuing of e-tickets, along with e bungalow booking and conducting of e patrolling, it marks the entering of the Department of Wildlife into new age of information Technology and it would facilitate in improving the efficiency in functions of the Department.
