The Ridiyagama Safari Park which was built during period of 08 years by spending Rs.15 billion was declared open for the public by Hon. Gamini Jayawickrama Perera, Minister of Sustainable Development and Wildlife on 28 March 2016.
Since then this Safari Park Could provide new experience for the animal lovers in Sri Lanka. Before ending two months since the opening this Safari Park attracted large number of visitors. This Park received a record income on 15th, 16thand 17th April.On 15th April 2019 tourists visited the park and received an income of 334,000, on 16th April 2098 visited the park and income was Rs. 465,000 while on 17th April numbers of visitors were 3160 and Rs. 475,000 was received as income.
Due to the arrival of large number of tourists on new buses had to be hired. This is a decision taken by the Minister Gamini Jayawickrama Perera for the convenience of visitor and several discussions were conducted to implement several more measures for the benefit of tourists. Staff of the park commented that large number of school children came to park to see the freely moving animals of the park.
